The main objective of the Community Games is to provide young people with the means and the opportunity to utilise their leisure time in a healthy and productive way. The organisation is child-centred and the focus is on participation rather than winning. Children take part in friendly rivalry, in a fun and healthy way.
To qualify for the National Festival – individual participants must first participate at Area Level (Moate – whereby participants must be living in the area of Moate), then at County Level (Westmeath) and sometimes Provincial Level (Leinster – finals held the weekend of 24th, 25th and 26th April 2020). The National Finals are the weekends of May 29th – 31st and August 14th – 16th this year (both in University of Limerick).
A core group of volunteers have come together to re-establish Community Games in Moate. It has been approximately eight years since Moate has participated. We are continuing to seek volunteers to aid with running events and to become members of the committee. If you are interested please do not hesitate in contacting us. (moatecg@gmail.com)
Initially we will be running events in Saint Brigid's National School and later running events in Moate Community Centre. Upcoming information will be posted on the News page and on our facebook page
